I worked in Finance with a degree in Biochemistry
As a late teenager I decided that I would do a bachelor's degree in biochemistry, because my life's goal was to become a scientist and tackle the World's most important scientific problems. I further did a PhD in computational biology where I specialized in analyzing huge amount of genomic data. Yet over the years my interest in science and academia slowly waned. So upon finishing my PhD I took on a postdoctoral position, and tasked myself on a journey of self-discovery and soul-searching. I wanted to exit academia but into what, I did not know yet. It was during this time I revisited my far flung interest in economics; in college I did take a class in economics as an elective. Now my reading list during my spare time is filled with materials on finance and economics, starting from books on the basics of the monetary system and economics, slowly morphing into books on investments and personal finance, not to mention the daily business news.
